Mar. 6, 2010 Saturday, March 6th saw the Arizona Drag Racing Association take their first of three road trips for the 2010 season. SIR Dragway in Tucson held ADRA Race #3 for the large car count of ADRA racers making the tow. Special thanks to Hughes Performance and an anonymous racer that were the major sponsors of Race #3. The Bounty sponsored by Cindy Claflin DeBrooke of Century 21 Realty went to Matt Gallegos in Super Pro when he took out Joe Howard in round number two. Bill Oxford took the Pro Bounty cash also in round number two with a hole shot victory over Sam Ehret. Coming off three contingency money wins in ADRA Race #2, John Schurr came back with three more big wins in Race #3. John once again took the Affordable Powder Coating “One Shot” in Super Pro when he dialed an 11.02 and ran an 11.050. Steve Johns was the Pro winner with a 13.93 dial and a 13.947 run. The second contingency money win for John Schurr was the Morrison Auto Machine “Best Reaction Time in Eliminations”. John had a .004 for Super Pro and then Ray Bondy had a .003 for the Pro category win. The “BART” or best average reaction time in qualifying sponsored by Specialty Automotive in Super Pro went to Marv Davis with a .026 while Matt Hawk claimed the Pro category with an excellent .011 for all three passes. Joe Howard with a .082 in Super Pro and Marc Ocampo with a .017 in Pro were the winners of the best package in eliminations sponsored by Magoo’s Automotive. Joe Howard also claimed the Diane Dyer's and Starbucks “Wake Up” award with a 1.716 in qualifying round number three. The Sunoco Race Fuels Random Draw went to Jeff Biel and the Rip-N-Success Torco Race Fuels certificate was awarded to Richard Church. The big pay check and the third win of the day for John Schurr came in the Super Pro final when Matt Gallegos turned on the red light at the start. John dialed his ’69 Valiant to an 11.01 and with a .033 reaction time ran a 10.993 at 121.32 MPH. Matt was only seven thousandths over his 10.23 dial with a 10.237 at 124.42 MPH after his -.009 red light for the runner-up spot. Richard Church won the Pro category final when Ray Bondy took too much stripe and broke out by 16 thousandths of a second. Richard dialed the ‘55 Chevy to a 10.12 with a .067 reaction time and then ran a 10.148 at 134.47 MPH. Bondy had a .109 reaction time with a 12.95 dial and ran a 12.932 at 103.38 MPH to be Race #3 runner-up. The final contingency awards of the day came from Zimmerman Racing Engines. John Schurr and Richard Church both received certificates worth $100 in shop labor for the Super Pro and Pro category winners. Matt Gallegos and Ray Bondy each received certificates worth $50 in shop labor as the Super Pro and Pro runners-up.
